‘Just a Theory’ Duchamp Festival Herne Bay 2013
Just a Theory
This is an assemblage of an oyster shell, a fork, a clay pipe and an old Boots bottle of Milk of Magnesia. It was shown at the Duchamp Festival in Herne Bay 2013. This was to commemorate 100 years since Marcel Duchamp stayed in Herne Bay. It was sold to a Graphic Designer who is also a Duchamp expert, which was flattering.
The text accompanying the piece reads thus,
It is just possible that during his stay in Herne Bay Duchamp ate a bad local shellfish and in the ensuing delirium re-imagined art as we know it. Just a Theory. The descendants of said shellfish are still out there.
